Forgotten?

It would almost seem that I've forgotten about you but nothing could be further from the truth. What is the truth? There's a Dutch saying that if you don't have the time then it's not a priority and I try to live by that rule. What has happened in the meantime will take too much of your time. What I can tell you is that I've switched jobs and am working outside of The Hague which means less time at home and more time in the car on my way to work. I've enjoyed the summer and now the switch to Fall. I've ran a 10 miler in Amsterdam in September and did really well! And now I'm back doing weight training and feeling really good about it!

In our house I haven't done very much decorating lately. I'm waiting for Christmas season to start and then I'll decorate more. Lately I've been living this 'less is more' lifestyle and have been doing that in our home too. Eventually we would really like to move in a few years time and have a lot of little things to do around the house. Hopefully it will sound familiar when I says that we've been postponing those little things for a while now. But newly found exitment is building up inside me and there will come a time when I can take full advantage of it. Meanwhile I'll just wait for the feeling to be finalized to start, ha ha

I promise to blog more regurlary because I've really missed it! It's a way for me do document my life and share it with the world. Thank you for your patience, it will not happen again!

For the Dutch speaking bloggers around, please also check out my Dutch blog Havermaud. Here is where I write in Dutch and talk about healthy living, oatmeal and my day to day business.

Talk to you soon!

After-wedding decorations

Last week, I recieved a lot more photo's of the wedding. Offcourse I would like to hang them all around our home but I don't want to make it a wedding memorial place, ha ha!

So I decided to hang a few photo's together in one place. And I used old wooden frames. I think it looks very lovely!

We much more enjoyed the pool that came with our holiday home. The temperature was better there and we had it all to ourself!

So, this is the last post of a very nice and unique experience for us: the wedding and honeymoon. Life has gotten back to normal, working, etc. But this is a lovely memory for us and one that’s nice to share with you all!

Wedding day May 25, 2012, part two

The wedding ceremony was so special and intimate. We asked our closest family and friends to be there and spend this special day with us.

IMG_0521

The ceremony was personal but with a lot of humor.

IMG_0522

A lot of jokes were made, we really loved it!

IMG_0526

We said our ‘I do’ in front of our witnesses. In the Netherlands there are no best man and maid of honour. They’re called a witness and they agree to be part of the wedding and they are our support during our marriage, in good times and in bad. They stood beside us when we said I do.

IMG_0533

Our little nephew gave us the rings. He did such a good job!

IMG_0536

Exchanging rings is always a funny moment. I couldn’t get the ring on S.’s finger and finally he had to put the ring on himself!

And here’s the evidence: we’re married!

End of part two…

Wedding day May 25, 2012, part one

It has been a while, sorry that I’ve been off the blog radar. This have been busy with the wedding, the honeymoon and going back to work when we got back. I have been using Twitter a lot trying to inspire people to have oatmeal for breakfast and showing some photo’s of the honeymoon. So now it is time to show you a few photo’s of our wedding day!

Normally, it’s a tradition that the bride sleeps at her parents’s home and then the groom picks her up from there. We decided not to do this because we already live together for some time and also because my parents are divorced and both of them don’t live in the same city as us and we wanted to get married in The Hague. So we both got changed in our home, not at the same time because I didn’t want him to see my dress! S. got dressed while I went to the hairdresser. When I got back, I got dressed upstairs and S. went upstairs to come and get me. Here we just had seen each other in our bridal wear!

Then we went by taxi to the wedding location, Pulchri Studio, together with the photographer which is my brother in law.

IMG_0483

When we arrived, our guests were standing outside to greet us, it was such a special moment!

IMG_0485

We said hello to them all and went to a seperate room and waited while the guests went to the venue where the wedding would took place. We made some photo’s in the meantime.

IMG_0493

And then it was time to get married! We made our entrance.

IMG_0497

We sat opposite the guests to we could see everybody.

And then the ceremony got started…

End of part one

The wedding day is finally here…!

After months of waiting and preparations, the day is finally here, our wedding day! I’m about to go and get myself ready (hair, make up, putting on the dress and hoping I won’t ruin my make up by crying, ha ha).

Cooking & Oatmeal

Yesterday my dear friend Paula came over and instead of working on wedding preparations (we’re getting married in one week!), we decided to bake cookies the whole afternoon!

We both love a Dutch blog Bakparade in which you can find reciped of ‘healthy’ cookies, cakes, etc. So we decided to give it a try. First, we made the sugarfree peanutbutter-banana-oatmeal cookies. They were ok but they tasted like nothing, probably because of the lack of sugar.

eindresultaat

So we tried the next one, muffins this time: banana-gingerbread muffins. They tasted really good but we couldn’t get the wrapper of the muffin… Weird but it least it tasted good. and the healthy part is that this way you can’t eat the whole muffin!!!

And finally we made a batch of Speculoos oatmeal cookies. Speculoos is a gingerbread spread and I find it highly addictive! Couldn’t stop eating the stuff yesterday! I don’t know if you can buy it outside of the Netherlands and Belgium. but if you can, buy it because it’s easy to use in dessert/ cookie recipes!

Koekjes de oven in

So at the end of the afternoon, we had a lot of sweet ‘healthy’ food! Don’t the fooled by the how many cookies on the photo, by that time we already ate quite a few!

The good thing about oatmeal is that it makes me feel full so around dinner time, I wasn’t very hungry and just ate an arugula salad with lentils. No photo to show you there but it tasted amazing! I went to see the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with another dear friend. The movie was so funny, you really should see it!
